Sob story time! Big Oil just has it so tough - they made *insert heavy sarcasm* a miniscule $172 billion in 2023. And it’s a real underdog story - the oil and gas industry just pulls themselves up by their bootstraps with hardly any help. And by hardly any help, we mean tax breaks and subsidies to the tune of $470 billion over the last century. Yep, you read that right - taxpayers have been directly funding the same industry that is driving climate change and causing dangerous impacts such as intensified extreme heat, hurricanes, droughts and wildfires.
Time for us to come clean! We are not fundraising for Big Oil - we are actually working to defund them by working to remove these tax rules.
