Eskom will increase electricity tariffs by 11.32% from 1 July 2025 and this will push many South Africans to the breaking point. Electricity costs have already tripled since 2010 and more tariff increases are planned for 2026 and 2027. Families, businesses, and the economy cannot take any more.
South Africa has a solution: the Just Energy Transition (JET). JET is a plan to lower electricity costs and create jobs by moving to clean, affordable energy sources like wind and solar. Outdated coal plants are expensive and unreliable. Renewables are the fastest, most cost-effective way to fix our energy system.
The government must act now to implement JET and provide immediate relief while transitioning to a stable and affordable energy future.
